Becoming a member

Membership of the library service is free to all residents of the Shire. You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or guardian.

Joining online

You may join the library online by clicking on the button below after you have read and accepted the membership conditions. An online membership gives you immediate access to all of our eResources. You can collect your membership card at your local branch the first time you wish to borrow physical items.

Conditions of membership

To borrow physical items you must present your library membership card.
Log in to any eResource using your library membership number.
DVDs and magazines are available for one week loan, all other items may be borrowed for four weeks.
You may borrow up to twenty physical items on your card. These can be borrowed from and returned to any branch of Western Downs Libraries. After hours chutes are available at some branches. Items left in the chute after hours are regarded as having been returned on the next open day.
Items may be renewed twice. Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand, or you can renew your items online. If a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan a renewal is not permitted.
Membership is suspended if you have long overdue items and outstanding charges.
Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience, we ask that you return or renew your items if you receive a reminder.
A reservation and/or inter-library loan service is available for those items which are on loan, available at another branch or at another library service. You can place your own reservations for most items via the online catalogue.
All costs incurred by the Library due to items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be reimbursed.
It is your responsibility to advise us immediately of a change in your address or contact details.
Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
